KEHILAT HaCARMEL
Congregation on Mount Carmel

Kehilat HaCarmel has been a great encouragement and a role model for many people in Israel and the nations in a variety of ways.
It began as a Bible study group within a rehabilitation program for Jewish and Arab men, founded and led by David Davis and his wife Karen. As more people joined the Bible study, they, along with Peter Tsukahira, established a congregation in Haifa in 1991.
When these premises became too small, they moved to Mount Carmel, where they built a worship centre. By the time it was completed in 1998, over 500 volunteers from around 50 nations had helped to build it.
The congregation was built on the site where Elijah, according to 1 Kings 18, challenged the priests of Baal, restored the broken altar of the Lord, and led the Israelites back to their God.
Kehilat HaCarmel is a worshipping community deeply rooted in God’s word. Its identity as a place of worship and prayer is symbolised by the altar, around which are 12 large stones representing the reunified tribes of Israel and Judah.
For the congregation today, rebuilding the altar of God in Israel means creating a place where the “living stones” of God’s people can come together. Jews, Arabs and other believers from the nations are forged into “one new man” in the fire of His love (as per Ephesians 2:14-16).
Another cornerstone of their ministry is caring for the poor and hungry in Israel and providing a place of refuge and help for those in need, in line with Isaiah 58.
Study tours are organised to give international visitors a biblical understanding of Israel’s prophetic significance and insight into what God is doing among His people today. Through these tours, as well as their teaching and preaching ministries, they offer sound and in-depth instruction.

You can find more information about the congregation on their website, where you can also sign up for a newsletter in German.

Today, the congregation is led by Pastor Dani Sayag and a wonderful team of elders.
We hold Kehilat HaCarmel congregation in high regard and are grateful for our relationship of mutual trust with this congregation. Their vision of the “one new man” (Eph. 2), which they have upheld for many years, strongly resonates with our hearts.
We believe we are living in a time when God is bringing many Jews, Arabs, and other believers from the nations into unity, so that together we can be a blessing to Israel and the nations.
